About Echoes
Most of us have hundreds of old photos we never look at. Echoes gives them a voice.
What Echoes does
You upload a photo — a scanned print, a picture of a picture, something buried in your camera roll. Echoes looks closely at what is in it (the clothes, the light, the setting, the expressions) and writes a short first-person story, as if the person in the photo were speaking to you today. A natural-sounding voice reads it aloud. The whole thing takes about ten seconds.
From there you can retell the same moment in a different mood, hear from an older or younger version of yourself, weave two photos from different decades into one story, and share a single Echo with family through a private link.
Why we built it
Photos capture what a moment looked like. They rarely capture what it felt like. We wanted a gentle, low-effort way to start those conversations again — with yourself, with your kids, with the grandparent who was there. An Echo is not a historical record; it is a prompt. People tell us the best part is what comes after pressing play: “That wasn’t quite it — it was actually…”
Who it is for
- People digitizing family albums who want the photos to mean something again
- Families putting together a birthday, anniversary, reunion, or memorial
- Anyone looking for a thoughtful gift for a parent or grandparent
How we treat your photos
Your photos are stored privately and your Echoes are visible only to your account. Nothing is shared unless you turn on a share link for a specific Echo, and you can turn that link off at any time. We do not sell your data. Read the full details in our privacy policy.
A note on AI
Echoes uses AI models to describe photos, write the narration, and generate the voice. The stories are imaginative and can get details wrong — especially names, places, and dates, unless you add a hint. We label AI-generated content clearly and never present an Echo as a real recording of anyone’s voice.
Who we are
Echoes is built and run by a small independent team based in Texas. We read every message — reach us any time on the contact page.
